The University Bookstore has long been a staple establishment on campus, and with quick access to the most common books found in any syllabus made available to students right on site, it functioned as a highly accessible and affordable way for students to keep abreast with their studies.
Students were shocked, however, to find that the bookstore had been closed due to unforeseen circumstances by its private vendors last semester and even though lecturers tried their best to work around this sudden deficit, the abundance of want was evident.
On Monday, February 11th, 2019, USC reopened the doors of its bookstore under the management of the school of business in partnership with the Finance department to offer accessibility and quality to students once again.
The bookstore carries not only textbooks for most courses on campus, but also supplemental reading suggestions, autobiographies, other uplifting materials and some pieces published by members of the USC Family. In addition to that, a partnership with the Inter American Division Publishing Association has given rise to a dedicated IADPA section with quality Adventist literature from around the world now made available right on campus. The store seeks to service not only students, faculty and staff on campus but also members of the community.

President of USC, Dr Hilary Bowman stated that he envisioned this bookstore to be a lot more than a bookstore; and stated that he hoped this would be a ‘one-stop shop for students’ and in the bookstore, which he dubbed a “BookStore Plus”, you can find Greeting Cards, USC Memorabilia, Stationary, Stress Relief balls and what promises to be an ever-expanding collection of student amenities.
Also in attendance was Mr Prakash Ramoutar, VP Finance who played a key role in the development of the project, Dr Rhaghavalu Ramella, Dean of the School of Business, Mr Jamel Providence, President of the ASB, Pr Terry John, VP Spiritual Development who prayed for the success of the endeavour, and an assortment of interested students, faculty, and staff.
