The University of the Southern Caribbean is proud to announce the following scholarships available for all eligible students for the 2020/2021 Academic year:

Merit Scholarship

Award:

  • TTD$1,000.00

Applicant Criteria:

  • Applicants must be in their first year of school at the time of application.
  • Applicants must be enrolled at the USC Main campus.
  • A minimum of five Grade Ones in their presented CSEC subjects.
  • Trinidad and Tobago nationals are only eligible for scholarships if they are enrolled in a program that is not funded by the Government Assistance for Tuition Expenses (GATE) Programme.
  • Incoming transfer students are not eligible for the USC Merit Scholarship. Only new students (Freshmen) are eligible to apply for this USC Merit Scholarship, one time in their academic career.
  • Applicants must enroll for a minimum of 12 credits per semester and complete their first semester with a minimum GPA of 3.0.

Award:

  • USD$1,000.00

Applicant Criteria:

  • Student must be a graduating senior
  • Must have a good citizenship record including having helped himself/herself through student labor
  • Must have maintained a minimum 2.5 GPA

Award:

  • USD$1,000.00

Applicant Criteria:

  • Student must be in their second or third year of university at the time of application
  • Student must be enrolled in a full time program (no less than 12 credits)
  • Student must be of good character and maintain good citizenship
  • Demonstrate leadership skills
  • Must have maintained a minimum 3.0 GPA

Timothy S. Greaves M.D. Scholarship

Award:

  • USD$1,000.00

Applicant Criteria:

  • A minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA
  • Applicants must be enrolled for a minimum of 12 credits in the semester the scholarship is being awarded
  • Be of Guyanese or Barbadian nationality or by default an eligible national of any other country within the Caribbean
  • Must be enrolled in the USC’s work/study program.

Two-Way Scholarship

To be eligible for this scholarship, the student must apply to the church where he/she holds membership.  It is restricted to conferences/missions in the Caribbean Union.  The sum approved and paid to the student’s account by the Church will be matched 50% by the college up to and not exceeding five hundred dollars ($500.00) per semester.  The amount stipulated by the college to be awarded to the student is in no way intended to influence or limit the generosity of the local church.

Literature Evangelist Scholarships

To be eligible for this scholarship, the student must apply to the church where he/she holds membership.  It is restricted to conferences/missions in the Caribbean Union.  The sum approved and paid to the student’s account by the Church will be matched 50% by the college up to and not exceeding five hundred dollars ($500.00) per semester.  The amount stipulated by the college to be awarded to the student is in no way intended to influence or limit the generosity of the local church.

Recruitment Plan

Work-Study Scholarships

Students may earn a portion of their expenses by working part-time in a college industry or service.  Jobs are based on availability.

Industrial Scholarships

(Open to Nationals of Trinidad & Tobago only.)  Students who work full-time, minimum of forty (40) hours weekly, for one year would receive fifteen percent (15%) salary bonus credited to their account, if the required amount of hours are completed.

Tuition Scholarships

USC awards one-year tuition scholarships annually to recent graduates, one each, from eleven SDA high schools in the Caribbean Union Conference.  Recipients must be the top performers in their classes, based on the results of the CXC examinations.  Their high school principals must also recommend them.  Students on this scholarship must maintain a 3.0 GPA at the end of the first semester in order to benefit the second semester.  Scholarships must be used in the year they are awarded.  They are not valid after.

Specially Named Scholarships

Distinguished alumni and friends of the college annually provide monies towards student scholarships.  These scholarships have specific criteria.  Enquires and applications can be made via the office of the V.P. of Development, Public Relations, and Alumni Affairs.
