President's Profile
The Board of Trustees of the University of the Southern Caribbean (USC) has appointed Dr. Colwick Mervyn Wilson as the 29th President of his alma mater.
Dr. Wilson, a Guyanese by birth, comes to USC from the Provostship of Oakwood University, Huntsville, Alabama, USA. Prior to his appointment at OU in 2017, he served in substantive academic and leadership roles at Loma Linda University, California; the Kettering Health Network, Ohio and the University of Michigan.
Dr. Wilson has a strong record of accomplishments in research, publication and grant writing. His published work appears in several peer-reviewed journals. His research and writing interests are directed primarily to the areas of social factors in health, statistics and research methodology.
Dr. Wilson assumed duty on July 01, 2021.

Dear USC Family & Friends:
As we embark on the journey through 2024, I am filled with immense joy and gratitude for the unwavering dedication and commitment of our USC family towards our shared vision of excellence and service. In this edition of the President’s Newsletter, I am thrilled to highlight some of the remarkable initiatives and milestones that embody the spirit and aspirations of our beloved university.
As we march proudly towards our centennial milestone, let us pause and give thanks to the Almighty for His abundant blessings upon our institution over the past 97 years. With over 32,000 graduates making significant contributions in various professions and to society, we are humbled by the profound impact of USC on countless lives and communities.
Our current faculty, staff, and students continue to demonstrate the mission and values of USC, striving tirelessly to uphold our legacy of academic excellence and service to others. Your dedication and passion are the driving forces behind our continued success, and for that, I extend my deepest appreciation.
The purpose of this newsletter is not only to provide updates but also to keep our cherished alumni, friends, and family informed and engaged in the life of our university. Your support and prayers are invaluable as we navigate the exciting journey ahead.
As we celebrate the miracle of 100 years with our USC100 campaign, we are in the process of planning a series of events to commemorate this historic occasion. For example, we plan to highlight the literary and artistic talents within our USC community through a compilation of over 100 alumni authors and poets.
I would also like to express my heartfelt gratitude to our generous Get on the Bus donors, whose contributions will support our centennial development projects. The Centennial Comprehensive Committee, co-chaired by Durey Arthur and Steve Benjamin, aims to foster institutional development aligned with USC’s Strategic Plan (SP100) pillars, ensuring our continued growth and success.
Furthermore, our campus beautification efforts continue to flourish, with recent initiatives including a tree planting campaign and the generous gift of flood lights for our playing field from the Government of the Republic of Trinidad & Tobago. Additionally, ongoing renovation works on a number of our buildings will further enhance our campus infrastructure and facilities.
In closing, I extend my heartfelt thanks to all who continue to support USC in various ways. Your generosity, commitment, and love for our university are truly inspiring.
As we continue steadfastly on this journey of excellence, we renew our shared commitment to serving others, nurturing minds, and transforming lives. Together, we will continue to inspire, innovate, and make a lasting impact on our world.
