Now serving as Associate Dean for Professional Advancement at Columbia Law School, Dean Modeste leads a broad portfolio that includes career services, graduate legal education, and executive programming—shaping the professional trajectories of future legal leaders. Her path to this role has been marked by both excellence and adaptability. She began her legal career at Shearman & Sterling LLP, where she worked on complex financing transactions, before transitioning into strategic leadership roles in legal recruiting at Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP.
At Columbia, she has steadily expanded her impact—first as Assistant Dean for Career Services and Professional Development, then as Associate Dean for Student Affairs Administration, and now in her current senior leadership role.
Beyond the academy, Dean Modeste is the founder and host of the Parenting for the Future podcast, where she equips families with research-based insights to help the next generation thrive in an ever-changing world.
