Health & Safety

At the University of Southern Caribbean, we prioritise your safety and well-being. The Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Department works closely with the Estate Police Department to ensure the safety of students, staff and visitors.

Health and Safety Services

Our commitment to safety includes an open-door policy, encouraging students and staff to access information related to health and safety effortlessly through orientation to all students and staff, and our monthly tips. We provide guidance on various aspects of health and safety in the planning and conduct of student and staff-led events.

Accident/Incident Reporting

All accidents and incidents must be reported immediately. This ensures that timely support can be provided, proper investigations conducted, and preventive measures put in place.

Health and Safety Guides and Tips

To assure the safety of the university community, we issue health and safety advisories as necessary.  Our monthly safety nuggets provide valuable information to help you stay alert and protected.  You can help when you

  • Evacuate the building and go immediately to the nearest assembly point when a fire or other alarm goes off.
  • Exercise caution in rainy weather and use appropriate footwear.
  • Familiarise yourself with all health and safety signs and procedures.
  • Maintain tidy, hazard-free spaces.
  • Report hazards promptly to ohsdepartment@usc.edu.tt.
  • Stay mindful of personal health and ergonomics.

Health, Safety and Security (HSS) Day

Each year, USC hosts HSS Day, dedicated to promoting health, safety, and security. The event features a campus march, demonstrations/simulations, interactive sessions, presentation and awareness activities to strengthen our culture of safety.
