Ps. Livingston Aaron, Director, Planned Giving & Trust Services, Caribbean Union Conference.

The Planned Giving & Trust Services Department of the Caribbean Union conducted its annual Professional Development Seminar in Suriname, September 17-20, 2008.  The Director, Pastor Livingston Aaron, coordinated the exercise.  Pastor Linden Gudge, an alumnus of USC and President of the Suriname Mission, was a most gracious and hospitable host.  Also there to welcome us was Pastor Giovanni Manhoef, a USC graduate of 2007.  Representatives from throughout the Caribbean Union’s PG&TS department participated in this seminar.  Representing the University of the Southern Caribbean were Mr. Stephen Pilgrim, VP for Development and Planning, and Mrs. Bernadine McIntyre,  newly appointed Director of  Planned Giving & Development. 

Our presenters included Pastor B. Braham of the IAD, Pastor Jose LeGrande of the SAD and Dr. Sumagaysay of the GC.  Some topics covered were, “Basic Estate Planning”, “Writing Trust Instruments” and “How to Successfully Market Your Planned Giving Program”.

Of great importance too, was Pastor Aaron’s presentation on the Caribbean Union Revolving Fund.  The fund has grown significantly within the past two years, and shows great potential in revolutionizing church development within the region. 

On Friday morning, graduation was held as part of the closing exercise.  Participants received certificates of completion.  Among them were Mr. Pilgrim and Mrs. McIntyre.  They are now certified PG&TS officers, qualified to assist with your Estate Planning and Trust instruments; annuities, trusts and endowments.   At the USC Faculty and Staff meeting, held on November 14, 2008, Pastor Aaron delivered a stirring Planned Giving message on the need for goal setting and financial planning.

At the conclusion of his presentation, for the benefit of Faculty & Staff, Mr. Pilgrim and Mrs. McIntyre were presented with their official PG&TS completion certificates.
