Meet Our New Faculty

The New Year has come with new additions to our faculty and staff here at USC. The ever growing administrative body of this institution is proportionate to its continuous advancement and increased student intake. It affirms the ongoing success of the University of the Southern Caribbean.

Joining us in the capacity of Human Resources Director is Mrs. Merna Riley des Vignes. Mrs. Des Vignes hails from the island of Jamaica, and prior to coming to the University of the Southern Caribbean, she served as Principal Consultant from November 2007at RIDEV Consultancy. Mrs. Riley-des Vignes is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in Health Administration at Phoenix University, which she hopes to complete in May 2011. She holds a Master of Science in Human Resource Development and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Administration, from the University of the West Indies, Mona, Jamaica from 1998-2000, and 1997-1998 respectively.

USC is also pleased to welcome a new Vice President for Student Development and Services. He is Pastor Robert Liverpool, formerly employed with the South Caribbean Conference of SDA. He pastored several churches in the Conference since his graduation from USC in 1990, and most recently, served as Executive Secretary of that Conference. A lover of young people, he brings to our University, experience, spirituality, and scholarship. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theology from USC and a Master of Arts in Religion from Andrews University. He is currently working toward earning a Ph.D. in Education, with emphasis on Leadership from the Northern Caribbean University (NCU) in Jamaica.

Adding to our teaching faculty, we have Dr. Aleksandar Santrač and Dr. Emmanuel Antwi in the Schools of Theology and Science and Technology respectively.

Dr. Santrač has taught at the Belgrade Theological Seminary from 1999-2006, where he also served as Academic Dean and Associate Dean, as well as editor of Signs of the Times (Serbian Edition). Dr. Santrač also served as a minister in the Northern Conference of French Seventh-day Adventist Church, and as an Evangelist in South East European Union. His expertise in biblical backgrounds will serve to complement the offerings at the School of Theology. Both Dr. Santrač and his wife are fluent in the following languages: Serbia, English and French.

Dr. Antwi has been a teacher and lecturer since 1976. He served as President/Principal of Laphana Adventist College in Sri Lanka, and had been a Missionary (IDE)/ Lecturer in Indonesia for over ten years. In 2004, he attained the academic rank of Professor. He has a Ph.D. in Crop Science from the Central Luzon State University in the Philippines, an MS in Biology from Adventist University of the Philippines, a BS in Biology from West Indies College, Jamaica, and a Teachers Certificate ‘A’ from Wesley College, Kumasi, Ghana. Presently at USC, he serves as Professor/Chair of the Biology Department in the School of Sciences & Technology.

We extend a welcome to our over 15 new faculty and staff in addition to those mentioned, and do anticipate great experiences as we continue our journey “Beyond Excellence.”
