Office of Alumni Relations The New Jersey Chapter of the Caribbean Union College Alumni Association conducted its Alumni Day on May 21, 2005. The theme chosen was “Heaven Beckons…Come Home”. Participants in the Sabbath School program included alumni Margery Lawrence-Morgan, superintendent; Sharon Jack whose voice is still melodious as when she was at CUC; Elizabeth Augustine-Rorie; and Norma Greaves who presented a well received historical CUC Mission feature. She was ably assisted by Amryl Greaves and Cheryl Hector. (See photos…) Pastor John Lee conducted a meaningful Lesson Study session as the topic “The Final Journey” was discussed. Pastor Steve Riley, from Trinidad & Tobago, was the guest speaker. The audience was thrilled and edified as he presented God’s word, and beckoned everyone to be ready for Heaven at last. The alumni and church membership were happy to meet Dr. Trevor Gardner, President of Caribbean Union College, as he greeted them, and gave an appeal for a generous offering. Later that afternoon he presented his plans for the future of the college, and gave an update on the progress and soon-to-be university status of the institution. The alumni showed great interest as they took part in the question and answer segment that followed. The afternoon’s program was an explosion of musical renditions that included local and out-of-town artists including the Orange Choral, and The Cicely Tyson School of Performing Arts Choir who presented vocal selections from Mozart, James Weldon Johnson, Kirk Franklin to Richard Smallwood. The well-planned day ended with the sale of West Indian delicacies. God, Caribbean Union College, and Christian education in general were focused throughout the day. The New Jersey Chapter must be complimented for a splendid alumni day’s program. Thanks to its President, Pastor Ivor Keizer, his hard working executive members, and all who helped in the success of the activities. Thanks to the local and out of town alumni and friends who attended and gave their support. God showered his blessings on all present.
