80th Anniversary Homecoming Celebration |
|

The USC campus was ablaze with activity from August 3rd, 2007 when alumni and friends began arriving on the campus (coming home). Hundreds returned home, supported and welcomed by their happy local counterparts. It was a grand reunion as many friends from yesteryear were reunited. There were lots of chatter as the memories of college days were shared, and updates were given. R egistrants were treated to a full week of activities which included a tour of the campus which was an enlightening experience to all returning alumni. They were awestruck by the new developments taking place on their beloved campus, and the transition over the years. There was also an excursion to the Point Lisas Industrial Estate and a boat cruise “down-de-islands” off Trinidad. The highlight of the week’s activities w a s the anniversary banquet which was a feast to behold. Hosted at the university auditorium, the function was Caribbean themed and the décor and ambience were spectacular. The food was great and there were lots and lots to go around. It was at this grand c ulmination of the celebrations that the University was presented with a check of US$80,000 ($1,000 for each year) by the Association. The festivities ended with a grand fireworks display. W e would like to thank all those who contributed to the success of these celebrations in whatever minute way: those who travelled thousands of miles, those who sacrificed of their time and talent and burnt the midnight oil (and telephone lines) to make it all possible. Words cannot express how grateful we are. We are so happy to have you as our notable alumni, fellow workers and friends. We ask God’s blessings on you all and hope to meet again at another Anniversary celebration. We hope it would be in heaven.
