Open Seminar - "National security issues currently facing T&T"

The event will take place on April 19, 2018 from 1:00pm - 3:00pm in LH14. 

Areas to be discussed include:  

  1. Countering Violent Extremism in Trinidad and Tobago.  
  2. The Role of Intelligence in dealing with Security challenges.  
  3. The role of gangs, community leaders and religious institutions in the Security landscape in Trinidad and Tobago.  
  4. Relevance of Prison Reform in Trinidad and Tobago.    
  5. The role of the TTDF-is there a need for a widening and deepening of its present role.  
  6. Bureaucracy, politics and security.  
  7. Radicalisation, Islam and Foreign Fighters in Trinidad and Tobago  
  8. Transnational crime and Trinidad and Tobago: Drug trafficking, financial crimes, human trafficking, the proliferation of small arms and light weapons, cyber-crime etc…  
  9. Reform of the Police Service  
  10. Illegal Migration in Trinidad and Tobago  

The presenters are students pursuing the Masters in National Security and Intelligence Studies, at USC.
